Japanese Historical Books by Japanese Authors

I am looking for some books set in historical Japan, ideally in the Heian to Edo period, and written by Japanese authors for the authenticity. Historical fiction or more fantasy based books would be fantastic.

For reference I have read Musashi, Taiko, & The Tale of the Heike. (I would like to read The Tale of Genji though I am not sure which translation to pick.)
