By "unfairly" I mean books that end badly for good characters. This can also mean that a character didn't get the justice they deserved, it doesn't have to involve death. Preferably fictional, but it can be nonfiction if you think it's a really good book.
Books I've Read:
The Book Theif
A Child Called "it"
A Monster Calls- by Patrick Ness
(As long as the book can make me cry near the end)

Well, {{ They Both Die At The End }} for obvious reasons. Also, {{ The Song of Achilles }}
*Sweet Bean Paste* by Durian Sukegawa
Basically all the books by Natasha Preston
A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry
Major trigger warnings for distressing content.
People get pretty enraged about the end of *Mansfield Park*. A lot of folks feel deeply that Henry Crawford should have suffered as much as Maria for their adultery, and that Edmund didn’t deserve Fanny.
Tender is The Flesh
A Thousand Splendid Suns
Euphoria by Lily King
