I read the 2 kingkiller chronicle books and I really enjoyed them! Besides LOTR it was my first try at a fantasy book. I really love reading but I usually go for literature. But this was an eye opener for me. I love the simplistic proze it made me value the characters, world and story much more!
I want to read something similar but seeing I have absolute no experience with fantasy besides LOTR an KKC I was hoping some experienced fantasy readers could point me in the right direction. I heard a lot about the malazan series and the stormlight archive but a friend of mine just gave me Pedero street station.
I am looking for something that brings the same atmosphere and lively characters as KKC. I don't mind the style to be dense because I am used to reading a lot of dense books. But i fell in love with fantasy for the epic plots, colorful characters and worldbuilding. So if it Will be a dense book it should have a huge pay off considering these three factors…
I am not looking for an intellectual/philosophical critique/hommage to the real world because that's what I want to take a break from when reading fantasy. I Just want a master storyteller who will help me drown in an otherworldly adventure without it being corny!
I hope someone could give me some nice tips!
