Hi, I’m a special education teacher and one of my students was adrift and aimless for a few years after graduating. Then, the beginning of this year his sister came into my class to tell me he joined the army. This is actually a great move for him and I’m hoping he takes full advantage of the opportunities he’s giving himself.
His sister told me she’s going to his basic training graduation in November and I wanted to send him a couple books he could still learn from, but are quick reads as he is incredibly ADHD. We read the Hobbit in his freshman class and did some horror and dystopia his senior year.
I was thinking about sending him some easy read like The Alchemist or a solid moral foundation like Profiles in Courage. Anything else I’m missing? Maybe just some brain candy? Thank you!
