My reading list this week has been
The God and The Gumiho – Sophie Kim
The Poppy War – R. F. Kuang
The Girl Who Fell Beneath The Sea – Axie Oh
Six of Crows – Leigh Bardugo
And I’ve enjoyed them all, but I really love SOC despite it being labeled YA. Ideally I’d love something to read in that vein, but aimed towards a more mature audience with a lil’ bit of spice. For me, the romance in SOC was just right – it didn’t take over the book, but there was a good amount of it.
While not strictly SOC vibes I’m currently planning to read;
Six Crimson Cranes – Elizabeth Lim
The Dragon Republic – R. F. Kuang
The God and The Gwisin – Sophie Kim (when it’s released)
Under The Oak Tree (novel) – Suji Kim (when it’s released)
Things I’m not a fan of:
- Alpha/wolf tropes
- YA (unless it’s written well and not like fan fiction e.g. SOC, The Poppy War, etc.)
- If the names are really cringey… like something you’d find on ‘that name is a tragedeigh’ (again, unless the book is really really well written!)
- vampires. It’s still too soon from twilight for me lol
- Overdone, cringey romance. Please, I beg, just give me something mature.
Basically, I want a well written fantasy book with a good romantic, somewhat spicy, sub plot!
If you know of anything that might fit this, PLEASE help! Also if it can be bought in physical book form that is great!
