So I recently had Erin Morgenstern recommended to me and almost ate my copies of The Night Circus and The Starless Sea. Absolutely love her writing and am looking for anything along those lines. Also enjoyed all the Robin Hobb series (Assassins, Fools, Liveships, etc.) if that helps any with recommendations. Otherwise I will be stuck re-reading all my Terry Pratchett books….which I have no issue doing, I would just like to branch out occasionally!

I love a lyrically written fantasy! “The Night Circus” is one of my faves. Here are some that I find comparable:
* V.E. Schwab’s “Shades of Magic” series, first book is “A Darker Shade of Magic” (I also loved “The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue” which is a bit divisive on this forum)
* Laini Taylor’s books, would start with either “Strange the Dreamer” or “Daughter of Smoke and Bone”
* Maggie Stiefvater’s “The Raven Cycle” series (first book is “The Raven Boys”) and her standalone novel “The Scorpio Races”
* Leigh Bardugo’s work – I like her “Grishaverse” YA series but my favorite of hers is her recent standalone historical fantasy, “The Familiar”
If you’re into beautifully written fantasy with rich world-building, you might enjoy the *Mer Chronicles* trilogy (*Updrift, Breakwater & Outrush*) by Errin Stevens. It has a unique blend of siren mythology, adventure, and romance, all set in a captivating coastal world. The writing is immersive, and the characters really pull you in definitely worth checking out if you’re looking to branch out!
