So I recently read a couple of great books with no wait time on Libby. I was so surprised at how much I liked them. So I was wondering what you guys have been reading and loving.
Margo’s got Money Troubles by Rufi Thorp
This is like a commentary on single parenting, being a woman in this social climate idk it was so entertaining and poignant.
Victim by Andrew Boryga
This was kind of a commentary on what it’s like to be POC in a place where everyone is POC then you go somewhere where you are a minority and realize how people view you. It’s about lies and perception. I don’t want to spoil anything but it’s so good!!
Share some so we can all go check them out! Thanks in advance!

5 stars: The House in the Cerulean Sea
4 stars: Remarkably Bright Creatures
Open Throat by Henry Hoke
The first line of the book description is “A lonely, lovable, queer mountain lion narrates this star-making fever dream of a novel.” And I couldn’t agree more. It’s short and great and disconcerting and unlike anything I’ve read recently.
Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson
A cozy fairytale fantasy that is part homage to Princess Bride – if Buttercup got to go on the adventuring herself. Sanderson’s world building and magic systems never disappoint.
These are my highest rated/recent reads. Love the idea OP. Thanks!
*Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop* by Hwang Bo-Rein
The main character opens her own bookstore, which attracts new acquaintances who all come for various reasons. Cute, simple slice-of-life (4/5 stars)
*The Door-to-Door Bookstore* by Carsten Henn
MC’s job is to deliver books directly to his clients. It’s a book about books, and I found it delightful. (5/5 stars)
*The Housekeeper and the Professor* by Yōko Ogawa
The MC is hired to clean the home of a former math professor with memory issues. This is a life-changing event for both of them. (4/5 stars)
*Sweet Bean Paste* by Durian Sukegawa
Man working at a shop that makes sweet bean paste treats reluctantly hires a mysterious older woman. Another slice-of-life tale; would recommend avoiding learning anything about this one, as it might spoil what happens (4/5 stars)
*The Remains of the Day* by Kazuo Ishiguro
The MC is a butler who is retelling his story. This is a very interesting and subtle psychological study. It felt like it could have been an actual autobiography. (5/5 stars)
Leviathan Wakes by James S.A. Corey and Paper Girls by Brian K. Vaughan. I’m really in my sci fi era right now
The God of the Woods by Liz Moore was my favorite read of the summer (and probably all year). I could not put it down!
Finished Sailing to Sarantium by Guy Gavriel Kay on Friday.
