I've been wanting to write some detective stories for a while but while I was thinking of relevant building blocks, I recall that I haven't actually read much in the way of such stories. To give an idea, off the top of my head I've read Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Hounds of the Baskervilles" and way back in High School-ish, a Death Note Light Novel spin off by Nisio Isin. Really a lot of Isin's works, though the only other relevant ones recently are Zaregoto.
Uhm, I'm planning on setting the stories in 1990 Romania within a year of the revolution, so – admittedly a tangent – something relevant to that would be neat (though I can hardly blame no suggestions on that front!) and supernatural elements are appreciated but not mandatory.
I hope this request can be parsed because I feel a touch scatterbrained.
