    1. I got the first part as a gift, didn’t hear about it before. I started reading just out of curiosity and to be polite (in case the person who gave it to me asks). I honestly loved it and couldn’t put it away.

It has a few naïve plot lines but given characters’ age it actually makes sense. It also touches on interesting part of history and culture that I was never exposed to and it encouraged me to learn more. Of course it’s fiction but the inspiration comes from a period I knew next to nothing about.

All in all, great read! I can absolutely recommend it.

    2. There is no way for other people to tell if you, personally, will like a book. All we can do is guess. When trying to decide what to read, you can try:

      * Looking for it at the library. That way, if you start it and don’t like it, you can just return it. No money spent.

      * Going to a bookstore and reading the beginning there, so you can decide before you buy.

      * Seeing if there’s a sample available from ebook or audiobook websites. Sometimes they let you read the first few pages as a free sample.

      * I try to read at least 100 pages of a book before deciding whether to continue it or not. Some books just start out slow and turn out to be great later on, and 100 pages is more than enough to tell whether a book is like that, in my experience.
