I did french at school for 9 years but I'm not good at it like at all. I can understand some of it but I feel like I should be better. So I decided to start doing french again in university. Are there any fiction books you'd recommend that are moderately short, even a children's book could work. The genre doesn't matter

Le petit prince
A1 is very low, you’re looking at books for toddler’s with very basic sentences. *Le petit prince*, for example, isn’t A1, it’s at least an A2.
I would recommend, if you have a library nearby, that you go there and just see what they have rather than trying to find real A1 recommendations. My library has a shelf of booklets with stories for French learners; you might find something like that to make your way through.
the stranger (l’étrangèr)- Camus. Had to read it in college. I didn’t really enjoy it but it is not very long and is widely read/known.
Régine Deforges: La bicyclette bleue. French is my third language, but I could enjoy this without too many problems. Set during the occupation, female main protagonist.
