    Relevant books I love

    • LotR
    • Name of the Wind/Wise Man's Fear
    • The Witcher
    • Broken Earth Trilogy
    • Dune

Do not recommend (because I've already read it)

    • Priory of the Orange Tree
    • ASOIAF (also would like to avoid something with this level of depravity/cynicism)

    1. Impressive-Peace2115 on

      – *The Hands of the Emperor* by Victoria Goddard – not exactly high fantasy, but similar to LOTR in that world-changing events occur because of the faithful action of the small
      – *Black Sun* by Rebecca Roanhorse
      – *The City of Brass* by S. A. Chakraborty

How do you feel about YA?

    2. I’ve read a lot of the same books and recently gotten into the wheel of time trilogy. In the third book. It’s got a lot of similarity and feels like a mix of lotr and dune, but moves more quickly

    3. Give Tad Williams a go. His series Memory, Sorrow and Thorn begins with The Dragonbone Chair. Very smart high fantasy. It’s about 30 years old and doesn’t get the love it deserves.

    4. Its not epic in the sense of lotr but if you want a fun page turner full of cool magic series Naomi Noviks schoolmance is awesome.

If you want fantasy Sherlock and Watson The tainted cup was great fun.

If you want epic saitre fantasy Orcanomics is amazing

    5. The Will of Many by James Islington ( from your list, this one might be right up your alley)

      Malazan, series by Stephen Erikson.

God Breaker, series by Mike Brook.

    6. The Belgariad books by David Eddings. 1st book is “Pawn of Prophecy”

Chronicles of Prydain books by Lloyd Alexander. 1st books is “The Book of Three”.
