Like the title says I’m looking for books similar to cemetery boys and the very secret society of irregular witches (tvssoiw), both of which were my most recent favourites.
I don’t mind dark themes, lighthearted banter or character focused stories (like tvssoiw) but they should be kinda active (I didn’t like Ariadne for example).
It can be romance or not, I like a bit of mystery and definitely fantasy, though I’m not opposed to some contemporary stuff.
I don’t mind male or female protagonist either way, I don’t mind het or queer.
As long as it’s not a story of “oh she’s so naive and shit, he shows her the world” (often in a spicy way), unless it’s done well and within reason.
I am not a fan of sjm, coho, yarros(fourth wing) or black (cruel prince), I would like to try dark romance maybe but I’m no fan of the way it’s done in some of these books.
I don’t think I like sci-fi, also staying with fiction.
Not a fan of spice (I might as well open up ao3), so no books that are primarily focused on that.
I also have a hard time finishing series so I’d prefer a standalone or duology at the max.
