I saw part of misery when I was young and it scared the shit out of me, so I’m somewhat apprehensive to return to that novel, but I will at some point. What do you guys think I should read? Just finished The Sun Also Rises unrelated, but I thought it was fantastic.

The Shining is excellent, but be prepared that it’s pretty different from the movie. IT is also very good, but not for the faint of heart. I had a hard time reading it when I did when my children were younger.
I’m just about half way through Pet Sematary. It was recommended on here are being scary. It’s my first Stephen King book. It’s good but I’m not getting the hype at all. I’m enjoying it tho.
Turn of the screw is awful. I read it for fun as an adult, not forced to. I also read a few summaries, and watched 2 movies and the Netflix show just to figure out what was going on, and none of them are good. The netflix show was okay because it changed so much.
If you read it, please explain the ending to me. I hate Henry James and his half page sentences.
Misery is the scariest book I’ve ever read
Turn of the Screw. Stephen King isn’t worth reading.
I read The Shining for the first time a couple weeks ago. I thought it would be the perfect book to kick off the spooky season…I was really disappointed. I expected it to be waaay scarier. Movie was way better imo
