I work in healthcare and have a few medical-ish recs.
The End of Memory by Jay Ingram – history and deep dive into how dementia works and affects the brain.
Blood Work: A Tale of Medicine and Murder by Holly Tucker – this one’s about the first calf to human blood transfusion where the recipient eventually passed away leading a dramatic trial for the physician who performed the transfusion. Lots of historical/political context if that is something that interests you.
