30 Male, haven't read books since I was a kid(apart from the below).
I bought Project Hail Mary – I love sci-fi and the plot, but after about 90 pages, I had to stop reading it. There was just too much science, numbers and equations that just didn't interest me at all. The start was amazing, but I just wanted the plot to move along. Maybe this might change when I read a few more books and get an appreciation for different types of writing, idk.
What I'm looking for is a book that's engaging, with an interesting plot, which actually moves on without too much jargon(e.g the science parts in PHM). Genres: mystery or thriller and I also love the post apocalyptic/zombie/virus etc genres in film/tv, but I'm not sure how that'll translate into books.
