Basically a young kid goes as a polyzone with his friend and his dog in a ship, they got discovered and soon after the ship is destroyed by a storm, a few survive living on top of the wreck that still flouts bc of air below it. They are out of food so they decide by luck who dies with a pistol shoot to let the others eat him.
While they are surviving there a ship apears, but there is no crew, only dead ppl, they don't have time to bord it bc it was too far, most likely it was the flyng dutchman.
After a while they are rescued by a ship that is going to explor antarctica, where they find a wey to go to the center of it where there is actually a green island with ppl and purple water, i remember that the book even had a map showing the rout they took and how the island looked.
