Shout out to my dad who just offered me and my bookworm sisters gold! As the title goes I need some help picking out books! I’m looking for fantasy/fiction with some historical elements. I’m looking for characters traveling in time or in the past. Nothing super modern or futuristic. And huge plus for queer romance plot lines but romance isn’t a necessity. Right now I only have 4 books in mind rn:
- Good Omens
- The Song of Achilles
- A Dowry of Blood
- The Poppy war
But these are the vibes I’m aiming for, any suggestions?

Daughter of Mystery by Heather Rose Jones is historical fantasy set in the fictional country of Alpennia (in the Alps) a few years after the end of the Napoleonic Wars. It’s a closed door f/f romance with politics, a woman with a sword, magic, and, as the series goes on, a community of women scholars, scientists, alchemists, artists, and others who come together. I like the magic and the worldbuilding a lot.
Fantasy fiction: The Flashman series (as hilarious and scandalous as it is educational)
