Oh, love that trope! The character Mr. Rochester is the classic stoic fella with a soft side. It’s an oldie but a goldie, and it’s got that unconventional vibe you’re after. If you’re chasing something a bit more modern though, have a squiz at “[Archer’s Voice](https://wydgetlabs.com/?red=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fdp%2F1538727358%3F%26psc%3D1%26linkCode%3Dll1%26tag%3Damznwydget-20%26th%3D1%26language%3Den_US)” by Mia Sheridan. It’s got that similar kind of dynamic—Archer’s pretty broody, but a total softie for Bree, the female lead. Both should be right up your alley, mate!
