Suggest a book with images and text about very cool looking, real-life, currently extant (living) animals such as the Leaf Slug, Blue Sea Angel, Great Eared Nightjars, Cassowary, Axolotl, Rhinoceros Beetle, Stick Bug, and Dragon Mantis.
Is this place okay for books with images or word-only? Will I find good suggestions here?
How about personal essays + illustrations? If you’re open to that, try World of Wonders (Aimee Nezhukumatathil), featuring axolotls and cassowaries, two of the animals on your list. There are also animals like the narwhal and the vampire squid, as well as plants like the corpse flower and the catalpa tree.
Note that this book features a lot of personal narrative, so if you’re looking for information on the animals’ mating, feeding, habitats, and such, this probably isn’t the right book. You’ll get introductions to the animals, but it’s definitely not a reference book.
