    Hi!
I'm reading A Swim in a Pond in the Rain by George Saunders, which is an excellent read that I'd recommend to anyone who hasn't found it yet.

Anyway, on the back of the book it says:

“Funny, frank and rigorous. A Swim in a Pond in the Rain ultimately shows how great fiction can change a person's life and become a benchmark of their moral and ethical beliefs.”

I really like this description, and I think it perfectly encapsulates why I appreciate some books so much and what I am generally searching for in books. For me, I would say that David Foster Wallace has formed much of my beliefs of what I should do with my life and how I should live. Dostoevsky has also had such an influence, and perhaps George Orwell. Judging from Saunders book, I should further delve into the old russians 🙂

So: what writers have had this influence on your life and on your beliefs? And in what way have you been influenced?
