I've read a few stories with master-apprentice relation – Mistborn, Age of Assassins… to name a few. All of these had the master in their prime
I want to read a story where someone who used to be the best in their field, has now grown old and weak. The plot either forces the master to find an apprentice, or a young man needs to find a master for some reason
The field could be assassination or farming or war strategy or sports… anything as long as the master is old and weak, and the apprentice is new to the field and shows no intrinsic skill in the beginning, and both are forced into apprenticeship
Suggesnt any books in fantasy or sci-fi with no romance sub-plot
