Diplomat’s Son is my all time favorite Vampire Weekend song. I’ve scoured the internet for more info on Ezra Koenig’s short story that became the basis for the song.

(Bandmate Rostam wrote this in a Reddit AMA thread):
Ezra sent me a short story called 'Diplomat's Son' when we were in college," he recalled. "The last paragraph read: 'I wondered, watching him bleeding on the rugby field beneath my mud-covered boot, if he was looking at me through the proscenium of a Turkish taxicab's rumbling windshield or, perhaps, the small port window of the rickety boat which had taken him down the Ganges.'

I’d love to read a book thematically similar to the song (prep school boys in illicit affairs (?), a diplomatic stint in another country) which has such vivid, suggestive imagery, or the short excerpt above. Thanks for your help!
