I haven't read ACTUAL books since I was transitioning into middle school to high school and discovered fanfiction (which was desirable as a budding queer). However, I need… a change. I need to read books again. Some of my favourites growing up are as follows:
- It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Fizzini
- The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer
- Ellen Hopkins' whole collection in the early 00s
- Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan
- Septimus Heap series by Angie Sage
- The Missing series by Margaret Peterson Haddix
There's a good deal of different genre/vibes (mostly mental health focused, fantasy, and scifi) here but these are the ones I cherished the most. Anything in these genre realms that are written toward a slightly older audience is anything I'm down for.
Btw if my formatting is bad its because Im on mobile and dont use reddit a lot :')

Mindtouch by M C A Hogarth is a story about two therapists in a bromance. Very wholesome. Sci Fi as well because both are aliens who approach therapy in unique ways.
House in The Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune.
While technically YA, the Six of Crows / Crooked Kingdom books might appeal to you.
John Dies at the End by Jason Pargin
