I read one murder/mystery book where two investigators play the role of the suspect and victim from a crime they are solving and act out how a crime went down based on found evidence. Something about trying to find more clues, leads, and trying to understand the suspect and what the victim endured. In this case it was an the suspect was male and assaulted/murdered a woman in a hotel room. For the investigators (man and woman partners respectively) it was hard playing out the scene, especially for the latter who had to play the helpless female role. Still it was an interesting approach to solving a crime.
Secondly are mysteries with scifi elements like psychic abilities. In this case an investigator who uses PSI or something to enter minds of criminals and victims to understand then or relive their experience during a crime.
I was just wondering if any other mystery stories and characters have used a similar techniques or powers for to solve crimes.
