Can you recommend any books with old queer and/or genderqueer main characters please?
I've read and enjoyed Mr Loverman by Bernadine Evaristo and i suppose A Thousand Moons by Sebastian Barry doesn't really count because Thomas and John aren't the main characters in that one but i'll just mention it as another example of the sort of thing i like. I tend to mostly read stuff written by people from Ireland, Scotland, Wales or england so i'd also be interested in anything from other parts of the world, especially eastern Europe, Asia and Africa.
Not a fan of TJ Klune or John Boyne at all. Really i'm looking for stories where the main characters are already old – that's a bit of a subjective term i know but let's say around 65+ (no offence to anyone that age who doesn't consider themselves old – it's just historically been retirement age in this country so it was the figure that sprang to mind).
Most genres are fine but i'm not into serious gore or smut (especially not both at the same time lol), i'd prefer something where romance isn't the main part of the story and i'm not a fan of children's or YA either. Doesn't have to be fiction either but that's probably what i'm looking for in the first instance.
