An actual adult fantasy novel that isn’t just smut?

I’m currently reading the ACOTAR series. It’s fine. I plan to finish the series but it’s not one of my favorites by a long stretch. It’s just too YA for me. Whenever I think of fantasy I keep going back to the Magicians series by Lev Grossman. Those books covered really adult topics like death, grief, and rape. Even lighter topics like growing apart from friends as you age and realizing that you aren’t that special. I would love to find a series that feels “adult” but not just because of its sex content.
