Hi all,
English literature PhD student here, after studying and writing about novels for the past 7 years I often find myself in a bit of a reading slump. I’m looking for a novel that will bring me out, which will leave me not wanting to put down!
Stephen King is usually my go to for any reading slump, but with the state of the world at the minute I’m just finding his stuff so depressing and scarily accurate.
My favourite books in the past few years have been: Beartown Series by Fredrick Backman, Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton, East of Eden by John Steinbeck and I loved the Bill Hodgkins / Holly Gibney books by Stephen King.
A wide range so I’ll read pretty much anything, but a series to keep me going for a while would be so appreciated! The only thing I’m not super into is fantasy, but crime / romance / historical fiction / drama / thriller is my vibe.
Thank you 🫶🏼
