Probably will be controversial, but here goes. Does it feel to anyone else like books from the 90s and 21st century have less interesting characters and themes? I'm a very character-driven reader, and I don't read books from the 21st century because of it. There's Atonement and Cormac McCarthy's works…who are your favorites? What am I missing? I feel like even characters from genre fiction like Hannibal Lecter and Jack Torrance are more interesting than any character written after the 21st century…am I wrong?
