I want something with some kind of relationship romance feature but the overall plot is based around a difficult or traumatizing hardship. ideally enough to make me cry. the only recent comparable one I can think of where I didn’t find the writing style or story was too cliche or featured too many typical tropes was “From the Embers” by Aly Martinez. any suggestions like this ?
