Recently I’ve been pondering a lot about the intersection between working for money to do what you love and making what you love make you money. I’ve read Big Magic by Elisabeth Gilbert. I’ve considered reading the artist’s way but considering I already do morning pages and have more ambitions to do literature or culture criticism, and or non fiction novelisation.
I’m still in school and study politics with internships in finance and journalism and feel like I’m teetering between two worlds of corporate job and creative artsy gigs.
I’d like to learn more about being authentic and creative and being more my own person rather than someone who does a lot of people pleasing and is pragmatic. I’d like to learn how to express my more ‘creative’ tendencies. I’m considering getting into photography for example and blogging more consistently for example.
I love books about dreamy narratives, historical fiction, travel and character studies. I’m an intermediate learner of French, Spanish and German and would love to get better. The last few books and films I’ve read and seen are Lee (about the vogue model turned war photographer), Poor Things, My Salinger Year and Brooklyn. Any suggestions would be great!
