I read A Secret History of Witches by Louisa Morgan last spoopy season and it was perfect.
Would love to find something similar.
Believable historical fiction (period accurate, no pretending life back then was clean and fluffy),
a "What if the witches in history actually had magic powers",
dark and gritty, doesn't shy away from mature themes but not depressing.
(Ideally protagonist(s) get an at least bittersweet/hopeful ending. If not a happy one.)
Recommendations greatly appreciated ❤️
