So, I recently read Journeys Beyond the Frontier: A Rebellious Guide to Psychosis and Other Extraordinary Experiences by Mark Ragins and absolutely loved it. In the book, Ragins talks about what psychosis is, what can bring it about and how to deal with it. He also shares some stories of people he met while he was working who struggled with mental illness. I liked that his writing was easy to understand and emotionally engaging. Hopefully, you guys can recommend books similar to Journeys Beyond the Frontier that give the reader a better understanding of the mental illnesses that are out there and that also include stories of mentally ill people that the author has worked with.

*The Body Keeps the Score* by Bessel van der Kolk does a good job bringing understanding to PTSD and other trauma-related issues.
{{WE’VE BEEN TOO PATIENT: VOICES FROM RADICAL MENTAL HEALTH}}
Because those diagnosed with it are also capable of writing.
From the point of view of mental illness (not doctors) I really liked Operators and things [https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/761935.Operators_and_things](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/761935.Operators_and_things)
