My book club likes to read books around monthly themes/categories like Black history, Women’s history, Pride, etc. I love mashing genres, particular something realistic with the fantastical, sublime or, science.
Our next meetup will focus on Native American Heritage month. Any recs for books that contain both themes?

Yes! The Marrow Thieves + Hunting by Stars by Cherie Dimaline,
Is a collection okay? If yes you could try Take us to your chief by Drew Hayden Taylor
Tony Hillerman’s detective novels are great! They center around 2 cops working for the Navajo Tribal police in the Southwest, you’d have to get a couple of books in, but the younger of the 2 is training to become a shaman – really interesting.
Edit – sorry, it’s not sci-fi, I was going to recommend a Native American werewolf novel, but I can come up with the name but it reminded me of the TH books.
