The Netflix adaptation of The Haunting of Hill House got me through the death of my grandmother with emotion to spare, and I've been meaning to read more horror lately. Hit me up with horror stories where the monster or horror element comes from grief or trauma, preferably shared by a family.

Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives. Not quite horror, but supernatural.
*Lisey’s Story* and *Bag of Bones* by Stephen King
*The Book of Accidents* by Chuck Wendig
*The Hour Before Dark* by Douglas Clegg
Our Wives Under The Sea by Julia Armfield is an excellent book. There isn’t much family in the story, in fact social isolation is kind of part of the issue, so maybe not what you’re looking for, but the two main characters are married to each other.
I know you asked for a book, but I started watch the vampire diaries for the first time and thought (the first 3 seasons were great) apparently horror writer Kevin Williamson wrote the show for the first 2.5 seasons , while dealing with grief.
Each character on the show , represents a diff way of dealing with grief.
There is a character who falls into drugs and bad crowds,
Another who needs everything to perfect,
Another who tries to focus on their old life before tragedy strikes, etc
I know it’s based on a book series but not sure if it’s exactly the same, but check that tv show and book series out
