Just curious what everyone is reading and what type of stuff they usually read!

I tried joining a few local book clubs only to find out most women my age around here are all reading thriller books, including my friends. I haven’t gone to any of the meetings because it’s just not my interest. But it sucks not really being able to really have conversations about the books I read with friends or people in person so I gave in and asked a friend for her best thriller book. So now I’m reading Kill For Me Kill For You by Steve Cavanagh and I honestly didn’t think I was going to get into it but it’s getting really good! Definitely a page turner which I like pretty fast pace so that helped. I don’t know that I’d read another mystery thriller like this but it’s opened my mind up to branching more out of my typical type of book.

My usual genre is magic based fantasy.

Maybe I’ll find a magic mystery thriller after this!

I’m reading Bad Mormon by Heather Gay. I usually read things that interest me. That looks like memoirs, literacy fiction, romance, and sometimes books on a subject.

Right now, I’m knee-deep in a historical fiction book. Honestly, it’s not my typical go-to because I’m usually wrapped up in comedic memoirs or anything that can give me a good chuckle—because who doesn’t like to laugh uncontrollably in public while people question your sanity, right? But there’s something about stepping out of your reading comfort zone that can be really enlightening. Reading a thriller is like having a guilty pleasure snack—it’s intense, addictive, and you can’t stop until it’s over. I mean, who wouldn’t want to feel like they’re solving a mystery with every page turn? But hey, it’s not always about the genre; sometimes it’s just about where the story can take you. Maybe after your magic mystery thriller, you’ll find yourself diving into an epic comedy fantasy or a dystopian rom-com. There’s a whole wide world of books out there just waiting to surprise you!

I just started The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst. Fantasy is definitely one of my usual genres but I tend to read pretty widely. Fantasy, thriller, memoirs, literary fiction are probably my top picks. The only genre that’s a complete pass for me is self-help.
