I recently have been loving books that explore ideas of death/grief, after losing my aunt (really like my mother) this past November.
Some I recently finished are
1. The Midnight Library
2. Crying in H Mart
3. Beach Read
4. Before the Coffee Gets Cold
Please let me know any suggestions!!
Thank you kindly.

This may be a slightly different recommendation but I lost someone close to me a few weeks ago while I was reading Shark Heart by Emily Habeck.
While it is not literally about death, it is very much about loss and mourning of a shared future. The story takes place in a world where people can slowly turn into animals due to illness. A woman’s husband is turning into a shark and the story follows their grief, the progression of his disease, and how they handle it. It comforted me greatly during my loss, and I hope that if you read it, you enjoy it. Sorry for your loss.
I know it’s YA but A Heart in a Body in the World explored grief in a way that really resonated with me. I would go in with little context and see what you think
Non-fiction about death and what we do in response:
* Smoke Gets In Your Eyes by Caitlin Doughty
* Stiff by Mary Roach
* All The Living And The Dead by Hayley Campbell
* The Work of the Dead by Thomas Laqueur
* Death in the Modern World by Tony Walter
* Death and Digital Media by Michael Arnold et al.
