I’m finishing up “A Gentleman in Moscow” by Amor Towles, and it’s scratching an itch that hasn’t been scratched in awhile.

While not an outright comedy, the protagonist and narrator are both clever, eloquent, and dryly humorous, which adds a pleasant backdrop to an already captivating plot.

I’m looking for a novel with a similar tone, though not necessarily a similar plot. All suggestions welcome!

    2. Check out Michael Poore. Either *Up Jumps the Devil* or *Reincarnation Blues*. I love his writing – both narrative and dialogue. It strikes me as being very natural – it’s like a conversation you would have with your friends, but funnier. They aren’t laugh-a-minute stuff, but definitely fit your prompts perfectly.
