    1. Sorry I’m stuck on the fact you quit school at 12???

When I read I imagine I’m a fly on the wall witnessing what I’m reading, sometimes I wish a portal would open in my room so I can just go live in Middle Earth or Westeros.

I started reading pretty late in life and I understand what you’re saying. You gotta read more. When you first start reading it’s difficult to be immersed. Once you get the rhythm down and you find something you like, it’ll come alive. It takes time and practice but it is so rewarding.

I don’t typically visualize what I’m reading, so it varies a lot from person to person. Have you tried audiobooks? I’m curious if you’d enjoy stories if you didn’t have the barrier of finding reading difficult in your way.

If you want a book rec, I’d recommend [Holes](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/788d1226-c544-4959-9556-25c66fa79196) by Louis Sachar. It’s my go to rec for people who want to get into reading, because it appeals to all ages, has really short chapters, and is super engaging. It was the first book my mom read to me at bedtime as a kid (a few chapters a night) that I got so into I ended up finishing on my own because I was too impatient to wait until bedtime to find out what happened next.

A few things in your post led me to look into your profile/post history, and I see a young man who’s given up on most everything but gaming. I can’t tell if you’re being truthful about not being in school, but I’ll assume you are. Now, this isn’t what you’ve asked but perhaps it can help even so.

I’m not sure what home life you have, or even how you can just quit school at 12 and not go back because it wasn’t working out too well. But if you aren’t serious about bettering yourself (reading being a great way, but not the only way, to do that) you’ll find that life in general won’t work out too well for you.

I highly recommend finding something that you enjoy that is also meaningful. Something that you can look back in 10 years and be proud to share your accomplishments with others. Going back to school will be a great first step. Reach out to resources like the local library and/or other social services, local clubs, etc. Audiobooks and educational podcasts are another option to expand yourself.

You have the power of world knowledge at your fingertips, utilize it. No other time in history has humanity had the ability to better themselves.

My thoughts, take them as you will
