Odd request probably, but important.
I'm writing a book set in the American West, around 1830s-1870s. There are supernatural/fantasy elements in this book, and especially concerning one mc in this book, an importance on being one with the land. Harnessing powers similar to that to defeat the threats. There will be a large presence of natives in the book, mostly as allies to the MCs due to their better understanding of the land. There are also a lot of folklore and imagery I'd like to include in the book that tie in that culture.
Most of my characters are black like myself, so that's an aspect I know about. I have surface level knowledge of natives, their practices, cultures, spirituality, ect. And of course, I'd never want to seem like I'm making a mockery of something, so I want a good book to dive into it with.
