I want to read something befitting the season but I’m not super into scary books. Something along the lines of Neil Gaiman would be nice. Or something cozy or funny but with horror or Halloween themes.
Would love to hear your recommendations!

A Night in the Lonesome October by Zelazny is in about the same range as Nightmare Before Christmas
The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson- A classic ghost story
The Turn of the Screw by Henry James
A gothic novella about a governess haunted by the ghosts of her charges.
The Woman in Black by Susan Hill
A chilling ghost story of a lawyer who encounters a malevolent ghost.
Lovecraft Country by Matt Ruff
The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield is a gothic mystery but doesn’t have anything in it that leaves you scared afterwards
Mooncakes by Suzanne Walker is an extremely cozy graphic novel with paranormal aspects. It’s a very wholesome and inclusive book, with witches and Fall feels.
