Hope it’s not too broad…I read a lot of sci fi and horror and the reviews for those books almost always go something like this: “it was amazing and thought provoking but the characters were 1 dimensional and unrealistic”
Some books I’ve read recently that I liked
Short stay in hell
3body problem trilogy
Leviathan wakes
Exhalation
Piranesi
Library at mount char
Recursion
The Descent
The Ruins
Project hail Mary
Would love to hear some suggestions for an interesting read featuring the elusive “well written characters”, any genre, but preferably something more dark!

*The Thief of Always* by Clive Barker
The Malazan Book of the Fallen. Steven Erikson has an absolute gift for introducing 10 new characters in a book and making you care deeply about ALL of them even when they have conflicting goals. Even side characters aren’t 1 dimensional.
