Hey! I realized I can't find any books with a trans woman protagonist. I'd like some recommendations! If it's a lesbian trans woman protag even better, but that's not necessary. Just wanna see some representation in books 🙂
Pet by Akwaeke Emezi (well, the protagonist is a kid)
A Half Built Garden by Ruthanna Emerys
Victories Greater than Death by Charlie Jane Anders
These Fragile Graces, This Fugitive Heart by Izzy Wasserstein

*Light from Uncommon Stars* by Ryka Aoki – but be aware that there is a lot of transphobic violence as well as hate speech against the protagonist. Overall, it is a very positive book about finding a safe place to be yourself within a chosen family. But the path that leads there is rough, so take care!

Not the main character, but the first book (and film) I recall with a major trans woman character was The World According to Garp, by John Irving

The Worm and His Kings by Hailey Piper.

For some trans lesbian horror representation: Boys Weekend by Mattie Lubchansky (cosmic horror graphic novel) and Manhunt by Gretchen Felker-Martin (extreme post-apocalyptic horror, with everything “extreme” entails).

Sure, everyone wants to be represented in media but the percentage of the population that is trans is very small. If you want that representation, you may need to go write it.

Not quite what you’re asking for, but I did recently read and enjoy the book [The Phoenix Keeper](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/e90335e3-99d0-4a7d-90d8-f7bd272e3b2e) by S.A. MacLean, and the main character’s best friend (who is very present throughout the book) is a trans woman.
“Detransition Baby” by Torrey Peters
