I decided to read this book after the film, because it was interesting what the film adaptation was based on. And even though I liked the book, it's very different from the movie. At one point, jumping the shark actually happens.

The story tells about the amazing life of a not very smart guy Forrest Gump. And with each chapter, his life becomes more and more absurd.

In general, I was drawn into this story. It was interesting to read and think where Forrest's road would lead him next, what a very strange story he would get into. And if in the first half everything was within the norm, then in the second the author seems to be going crazy (the most normal moment in this half is when Gump becomes a chess champion) . And the book has humor… black humor, which made me laugh a lot, although there are serious moments here, for example, Gump's stay in Vietnam.

About Forrest Gump. I liked this character. He is such a bumpkin with a kind heart, but rude and feeble-minded, but still understands how life works.

I liked the author's writing style. The book is written like this. It's like Forrest is communicating directly with you, so the text uses a conversational style of speech. And I like that Forrest makes spelling mistakes in some words, it highlights his dementia. And the text itself is easy to read.

As a result, I liked the book. She is interesting and funny, the main character is well made, and the author's writing style is good. It is very different from its adaptation, but it is still good.
