After experimenting with stoicism for a while I've come to the conclusion that it's useful but not exactly practical with our modern times. I keep telling myself I'm this quite guy who doesn't react to anything. But I've got so much rage bottled up inside.
I was poor. And then suddenly earned a ton of money. I was surprised how much of my identity was linked to a mere job and my financial status.
I read Sapiens a while back and it opened my mind a bit. I realized that we are all deluding ourself into thinking that we're civilised men. Truth is the physiology of our minds is not that different from our hunter gatherers.
I'm not saying we should go around killing and raping people. But maybe a bit more introspection and self awareness is needed. More than what our institutions and adults choose to admit.
Looking for a book that roughly tackles all these topics.
