I’m looking for a book that has a “man on a mission” type plot that includes both action and the slow (maybe a faster pace) peeling back of layers of a mystery in international espionage or political conspiracy. I’ve enjoyed Mitch Rapp and James Reece and other characters along those lines but these are also guys who shoot first and maybe don’t even ask further questions. I also like John le Carré and similar authors but their books are slower going and I would like a faster pace. It’s been awhile since I’ve read them but I remember Frederick Forsyth having a bit of both the action and the unraveling of a deeper plot so I think I’m looking for something similar.
