Please recommend me a contemporary book that will not make me cry. I like cozy fantasy but I’m ready for something more serious. It will be a bonus if it is an award-winning book as it usually ensures its quality (and makes me sound like a snob🫠)
I loved Kazuo Ishiguro’s Remains of the Day and The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay by Michael Chabon.
I hated The Prince of Tides and The Cider House Rules (too much violence and suffering).
