I want to learn more about the history of religious texts and their connection to anthropology. Specifically I am interested in things like theories on the history of how, when and by who the Old Testament was written and why certain things are in it. I know a lot of this is likely unknown but theories, or at least some kind of background on the society that surrounded the inception of the text is what I’m looking for.
I’m hoping to find something that is non bias either way. It doesn’t need to take an atheist or non religious approach but I would like it to be heavy on history and the societies surrounding the people that lived when these texts were developed rather than sermonizing.
