I just finished reading Magpie Murders and returned it to the library. Now I'm wondering about whether the pencil marks, which I assumed were stylistic since the narrator is an editor, were actually just pencil marks from a previous library reader?! If not, and they're meant to be there, I had assumed they were some sort of clues, but seems not now I know the ending. Also there were a few typos which I thought might be clues but I can't find anything about this online, so they might just have been there to signify it was Conway's first draft, but knowing Horrowitz I feel like they must have been some sort of code. I can't check though because I had to return it to the library!
