I was regularly reading 15-30 non-fiction books a year, all revolving around personal development/business/spirituality. I work most of the day, but get caught up in scrolling regularly. I definitely have time to get lost in a good story but not sure where to start. I read a lot of fiction when I was in grade school. I'd like to sit back with a cigar and whiskey and immerse myself in a story in the evenings.
Some interests:
- Getting lost/living in the wild/survival
- Living a life off the beaten path (backpacking, gypsy, vanlife, etc)
- Psychological mindfuck movies
- Crazy dystopian stories with good world building
Thank you for any recommendations!

Swan Song by Robert McCammon, an excellent post apocalyptic thriller.
The Postman by David Brin, also post apocalyptic but more of a survival/wilderness element to this one. Please not it was much better than the movie.
The Last House on Needless Street. Really hooked me, fucked with my mind and I never saw any of the twists coming.
