I am a huge fan of Iliad but I haven't been able to complete the book due to the poetic format. I have consumed a lot of related material but haven't been able to complete The Ilaid and Odyssey.
Can you please suggest me authors who have written them down in a story format?

Maybe look up Gary Brecher’s War Nerd Iliad.
It’s on my wishlist, but it sounds exactly like what you want, based on what I have read about it, and the excerpts the author read on his podcast. Basically he decided to sacrifice lyricism to make the story, the humor and the adventure of it shine more.
